Kelly Taphouse's Journey, The Inspiration Behind MOVE

Kelly Taphouse is one of the most passionate fitness professionals with over 15 years’ experience in the industry. Although she was not a natural athlete who played high school sports that did not stop Kelly from starting her fitness journey later in her twenties.  Her initial passion for fitness began as a means to help cope with anxiety.

Kelly’s hard work and love for fitness quickly grew and she became a top competitive fitness model achieving success across North America.  She was featured regularly in the popular fitness magazines, obtained sponsorship from a top nutrition supplement company and promoted fitness for leading companies at the largest conventions however, at the same time she began to develop unhealthy habits that included overtraining, excessive cardio and strict dieting.  She also began to struggle with body image disorder as her unsustainable levels of exercise and caloric restriction caused her weight to fluctuate greatly, sometimes upwards of 20lbs after a competition.  This struggle led Kelly to better educate herself about how she was compromising her health on the inside. She soon quit competitions and started her career at Goodlife Fitness as a Personal Trainer, PT Club Manager and PT Area Manager.

Like so many other women, Kelly struggled to get back in shape after the birth of her son, having gained 70lbs, and found she had lost her motivation to be fit and healthy. It was at this time she decided to stop dieting and accept and understand her new body once and for all. She slowly began to eat better with balance, train based upon better movement and getting stronger, and truly fell in love with healthy fitness. By focusing on feeling good, instead of losing weight, she became happier in her own skin.  This new approach to fitness combined with the challenge she faced in finding a fitness center in the area that truly provided an experience catering towards women and convenience for moms, inspired the creation of MOVE fitness club.

Kelly has helped hundreds of people find and follow their own fitness journey. Her undeniable infectious energy and passion for fitness can only be rivalled by her love for her son Parker.  It is her mission to help women love their bodies by challenging them to become stronger and healthier for the all the right reasons.

MOVE well, get strong, and be your best. Looking good is just a side effect!
